Feb 13 -Demographic Infographic

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome and great to see you amazing people! Today in class we will be delving into the creative world of infographics. This should be a fun and interesting way to delve into that data to touched on while creating your Population Pyramids. This is very much an extension of that activity so hopefully, you got that done with no problem! Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
Objectives:

  • Create Population Pyramids using individually assigned national data
  • Create Population Infographics using individually assigned national data
Agenda:

    1. What is an infographic?
      1. An interesting, eye-catching way to visually represent data that includes graphic images and text combined together in such a way to inform a viewer about a topic

    3. Making your infographic
      1. Use Google Draw
        1. Apply the Principles fo Design to your infographic
          1. Contrast
            1. Use simple color combinations of primary colors
            2. Do not use more than 3 fonts or font sizes (title, body, labels)
          2. Repetition
            1. Be consistent
          3. Alignment
            1. Use rows and columns
          4. Proximity
            1. Have structure, balance, and flow to tell your "story"

    3. Important note about these sites...
      1. These sites have a free option to create infographics but will not allow you to print.  You DO NOT NEED to purchase a membership at the site.
      2. the workaround is to create your infographic and then take screenshots of elements and put the screenshots into a Google Draw document.
    4. Extra Credit will be given those that print their infographic poster size (minimum size 12x18) and have it with them in class on Friday.
    5. Print your Infographic to turn in at the start of the class period on Friday
Homework:
  1. Print infographic (b/w of, but color preferred) for class Friday.
  2. Current Event #6 due Sunday (Europe)
