Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome back! Today in class we will be working on applying our understanding of government and economic systems. Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

    1. Prepare Journal to turn in on Friday.
    2. Review Blog and Daily PPTs for History Today and Close activities to be sure you have completed them all.
    3. You are responsible for completing the History Journal, even if you were absent.

    1. Working with your table group, you will spend the week creating a functioning government and economy from scratch. 
    2. The document is shared through Classroom. 
      1. One person in the group will need to make a copy of activity, title it with the class period and table group number, and share it with the other members of the group.
      2. Each group member will need to type their name and a color designation they will use for their contributions to the project.
    3. Government
      1. Write a rough outline of how your government would work (2-3 Paragraphs)

        2. Who holds the power and how (people, king, dictator, etc.)
        3. Examples of how the government functions (laws, social welfare benefits, infrastructure)

Nov. 26-Comparing Etiquette

Welcome and great to see you all today! I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We are on the downslope to the end of the semester and I hope that everyone is ready and focused to finish strong! Today in class we will be taking the information we have been working with for the past couple of weeks and writing a comparative paragraph. This continues our year-long workshop on developing our writing skills. Remember that these are important to improve! I look forward to working with you all to get better!   • Create a comparative paragraph that analyzes the similarities and differences of etiquette between two countries

        1. Google Docs has a Chicago style template you can access that will already have the paper formatted for you
          1. This template is attached to the Classroom assignment.
          2. To use the template you will need to open the template in Classroom then File > Make a copy
        2. Follow File Name Protocol and use “EtiquetteComparisonParagraph” as the title of your document

        2. Make sure to specifically mention which three of the Etiquette qualities you are comparing in your response. (Greetings, Dining, Family, or Misc.)

Today in class we will be doing our Gallery Walk of your Etiquette presentations. You will need to use the graphic organizers to take notes on the different presentations. This information will lead us to write a comparative paragraph next week. Keep up the good work! Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

  • Collect information that was created by their peers in order to write a compare and contrast paragraph

    1. PURPOSE: Design a Google Slides file that can be viewed without the assistance of a presenter to convey information about a culture’s etiquette 
    2. DELIVERABLE: Google Slides presentation that uses graphics and descriptions to fulfill the requirements of the assignment and will teach others about the etiquette of a global culture 
    3. FINAL ACTIVITY: Participate in a gallery walk in which students learn about the etiquettes of different cultures 
    4. Today you will work on and polish PHASE TWO of the project 
      1. Create a Google Presentation 
      2. Make sure you have: 
        1. The proper amount of slides 
        2. Use title and bullets (Remember 3X5 rule and elements fo good design)
        3. Pictures 
        4. Remember to use the correct file name (see file naming protocol in blog resources)
      3. As you create your Google Slides, remember the Principles of Good design we have discussed in class.  You can look under the Blog Resources tab for more details on this.  Included are two resources you should consider in your design process.

Homework:
  1. Prepare Etiquette Project Presentation (be prepared to deliver Friday)
    1. Note: presentations will be as a gallery walk.
    2. Since you will not be orally presenting information on your slides, you may want to consider ways of "telling the story" such as including a video clip demonstrating the appropriate etiquette.
      1. If you cannot find one online, maybe consider creating your own short video clip.

Nov 9 -Culture Exemplified & Etiquette Project Pt. 1

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today we are continuing our class discussion and looking at examples of culture. After that, you will be starting our Etiquette project. Yeah! This stuff is fascinating and can lead to some great discussions. Hope you have all had a fun week and have a good weekend. Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
Objectives:

  • Define culture through its examples
  • Analyze the etiquette of another country and create a PPT to illustrate its cultural differences
Agenda:

    1. Refer to the Worksheet (#1 Features of Culture and #2 Everyone Has Culture) from the last class meeting. 
    2. In your journal, respond to the following 
    3. Prompt: Personal Culture
      1. What areas of your own family culture did you find most interesting or surprising? 
      2. What parts of your family culture do you also see reflected as part of the US Culture?
    4. Write your thoughts and then share out with your table group. Add thoughts from your group with a red pen to your response.
    5. Please turn in your Worksheet after completing the warm-up activity in your History journal.

    1. Begin by reading the Etiquette Project Directions

      1. Pick a country 
        1. Open up the List of Countries for Etiquette Project PDF 
        2. Take 2 min to decide your first and second choice countries 
        3. The teacher will call you up by desk number, using popsicle sticks, and write down the country you choose 
      2. Read the Assignment Sheet 
        1. Make sure you understand the directions
        2. Make a note of any questions you have and send a message to Mrs. Paulazzo through the Google Classroom Assignment.
      3. Start Research 
        1. Using the resource website listed below start researching the etiquette of your country
