Nov. 16 -Polish Etiquette Project & Gallery Walk Pt.3

Ladies & Gentlemen,
Today in class we will be doing our Gallery Walk of your Etiquette presentations. You will need to use the graphic organizers to take notes on the different presentations. This information will lead us to write a comparative paragraph next week. Keep up the good work! Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
Objective:

  • Apply publishing skills to polish presentation on Etiquette 
  • Collect information that was created by their peers in order to write a compare and contrast paragraph
Agenda:
  1. There is no History Journal today
  2. Google Classroom Assignment Activity: Etiquette Project
    1. PURPOSE: Design a Google Slides file that can be viewed without the assistance of a presenter to convey information about a culture’s etiquette 
    2. DELIVERABLE: Google Slides presentation that uses graphics and descriptions to fulfill the requirements of the assignment and will teach others about the etiquette of a global culture 
    3. FINAL ACTIVITY: Participate in a gallery walk in which students learn about the etiquettes of different cultures 
    4. Today you will work on and polish PHASE THREE of the project
      1. Review project requirements before finalizing
        1. Slide One: Title Slide
          1. Country Name
          2. Your Name
        2. Slide Two: Greetings
          1. How do you say, “Hello” or “Goodbye”?
            1. What is the difference between formal and informal greeting etiquette?
        3. Slide Three: Eating Customs
          1. What are appropriate eating and dining customs (inside and outside the home)?
            1. What is the difference between formal and informal dining etiquette?
        4. Slide Four: Family Life
          1. What is the dynamic of the family? Are they close, distant, patriarchal, or matriarchal?
        5. Slide Five: Your Choice! – Use this slide to include any additional etiquette fun facts 
      2. Refer to the resources on Principles of Good design we have discussed in class to create a visually appealing presentation. You can look under the Blog Resources tab for more details on this. Included are two resources you should consider in your design process.
        1. Project Design Basics
        2. How to Use The Rule of Thirds (Quick Reference)
    5. Close:
      1. On binder paper, list all of the elements from Principles of Design that you applied to your project today in class.
      2. Hand in the paper before class is dismissed.
    6. Note: Due to the number of students absent today we need to move the Gallery Walk activity to Monday.
Homework:
  1. Upload your Etiquette Presentation to Google Classroom (due 11:59PM)
