Sept 7 -Fairy Tale Work Day 2

Ladies and gentlemen,
Today in class we will be continuing our Fairy Tale Projects. We will start with a little modeling of what a picture book should look like and how your presentation should sound. This is one of my favorite projects and I am so looking forward to seeing what you produce! Remember that you get two block days to work this week and I expect that you put a lot of effort into getting your work done! It's great to see you all after a long weekend apart! Below you'll find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
Objectives:
  • Create a fairytale book set in the geographic setting of a foreign country and aligned to the 5 Themes of Geography
Agenda:
  1. Connect: History Today
    • Prompt: Countries
    1. Describe the Place that your country is (some of the physical and human characteristics).
  2. Skill: Modeling Storytime
  3. Collaborate: Fairy Tale Project
    1. The Goal of this project is Through a fairy tale, communicate the human and physical geography of a foreign country. You will research a country based on the 5 Themes of Geography and use your research you will rewrite a Fairy Tale as if it takes place, present day, in this modern country, incorporating your research into the story. Today you should be finishing your rewrite and building your storybook.
    2. Country Info Sheet and Rewrite
      1. You will start by filling out a Google Doc that shows your knowledge of the country you have chosen; you will complete the Fairytale rewrite on the same document
    3. Rewrite
      1. The rewrite will be located in a Foreign Country and demonstrate knowledge and accuracy of the 5 Themes throughout the rewrite
    4. Design a 5 Themes of Geography Fairy Tale Book. 
      1. You will use Google Slides or Paper to create a visual book of the fairy tale 
      2. This will adhere to the guidelines of the information sheet

    • Prompt: Collaboration

Homework:
  1. Assign tasks to group members if needed for group members. Although you will have class time on Monday to wrap up and polish your project, your book will be turned in by end of the period.
