Mar 20 -Rwanda Genocide

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome and great to see you amazing people! Today in class we will wrap up the Rwanda Scavenger Hunt from last week and then we will start Hotel Rwanda. This should be a very interesting and great learning experience! Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.
Objectives:
  • Discuss the history of Africa, regional characteristics, and the impacts of Europeans
Agenda:
  1. Rwanda Scavenger Hunt -Google Classroom (Individual, jigsaw)
    1. Part 1
      1. You will receive a number (1-15)
      2. You are responsible for reading the information on the page number that corresponds to the number you are assigned (Rwanda Scavenger Hunt Resources)
      3. Take notes on binder paper of your reading
      4. Your notes should be similar to annotations (who, what, when, where, why, how, main ideas, key details, vocabulary...etc.)
    2. Part 2
      1. After reading and taking notes (on binder paper) you seek out people to answer questions on your worksheet (Rwanda Scavenger Hunt Worksheet)
      2. You will have answers to only one or two of the questions, but you will seek help and help others for the others.
      3. The goal is to talk to other people and learn through oral communication
  2. Rwandan Genocide Background Information -Google Classroom Activity
    1. Working with your table group, research the answers to the questions provided in the activity. These questions provide background information (context for the Rwandan Genocide) 
  3. Start Hotel Rwanda
