Aug. 17 -Intro Chrome Books & Google Drive

Welcome back! Today in class we will spend some time setting ourselves up and reviewing how to use Google Drive Apps and we will practice using them! This class starts out at a fairly easy pace but ramps up in rigor and difficulty as we go. I am excited to be working with you all for our first block period together! Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  • Understand procedures and practice the functionality of Chrome Books, Google Drive, and Docs.
Agenda:
  1. History Today (HT)
    • We will be using your composition book for this activity throughout the year and it will count as part of your participation grade.
    1. Warm-Up and Closure Formatting
      • Sample:
      • 8/17/17 HT/HTC
      • Prompt: Social Science
      • Your response...Yadda yadda yadda. Yada, yadda. Nicki Minaj yadda, yadda. 
      • Then in red pen, you add to what you wrote from the discussion
    • Note: Your History Todays (Warm-ups and closures) MUST be neatly kept in a running ledger, and properly formatted. Your History Today Journal will be graded on it completeness, correctness of formatting & neatness and on the comprehensiveness of your responses. Although each entry may only be a few sentences, the thoughtfulness of your responses and additions from the discussion will be carry the heaviest weight of your HT grade.

  2. Assign Chrome Books
    • The Chromebook you will be assigned today in class will be the same Chrome Book you will access for the school year in this class. 
    • Taking care and reporting any issues with the Chrome Book will be your responsibility.
    • Prior to daily use, check over the Chromebook or any physical issues, followed by any system issues. If there is anything not as it is supposed to be, report it to the teacher immediately. If you do not report issues, you can be held (financially) responsible.

      2. Start: About Me Paragraph
        1. For this activity, You will need to access Google Classroom. You will be creating a new Google Doc formatted according to the Chicago style guidelines. You will be writing a paragraph introducing yourself, and sharing it with a partner. You will then be turning it in to Google Classroom
  5. HT Close
    1. Prompt: List 3 new things you learned today.
    2. What was the most valuable thing you learned in today's lesson? What made it so valuable for you?

Homework:
  1. Submit your "About Me" paragraph assignment to Google Classroom.

  • Classroom assignments typically have a default deadline of 11:59PM. Although this is the case for this assignment, sometimes this may be changed. Pay attention to this detail and be aware of your due dates and times for all classroom assignments.
